The Centre: Tourism Business of the Year

The Interpretation Centre, which is dedicated to the history of forest fire prevention and fighting, was named the Tourism Business of the Year 2009 at the Maniwaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry Annual Gala on April 6, 2010.

When he learned of the nomination, François Ledoux, the Director General of the Interpretation Centre, remarked that “2009 was a period of repositioning for the Centre, which underwent extensive restoration and renovation work with a view to improving the scope and value of our exhibits. With the support of numerous financial partners, we invested some $200,000 to improve our offering to the locals as well as the visitors who come during the summer.”

Heritage buildings, culture and history contribute to the tourism success of the Gatineau Valley.

Three other area businesses were nominated for the Tourism Business of the Year Award: Le Bivouac de l'Ancien in Gracefield, the Territoire de pêche et de chasse Poirier in Maniwaki and the Auberge du Draveur, also in Maniwaki.
